Pita Bread ... at your service

adapted from recipes from Sophia's Pocket Pita Bread in Michigan

Toasted Pita Chips
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cut in half. Separate halves to make four pieces. (A yummy option: Brush rough side with canola or olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt.) Cut into wedges for dipping. Heat until crisp (6-8 minutes) minutes. Serve with hummus or fresh salsa....or just enjoy them plain.

Sesame Seed Toast
Split loaf into two thin, round circles. Spread rough side with butter or margarine. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Cut in wedges. Bake on a cookie sheet in preheated 300 degree oven until crisp (8-10 minutes). Best served hot.

Parmesan Pita
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Split bread into two rounds. Cover rough side with butter or margarine. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and a light amount of oregano. Cut circles into small wedges. Bake for 8-10 minutes until crisp. Serve hot.

Pita Pizza
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Split bread into two rounds. Add pizza sauce, tomatos, cheese etc. Bake for 4 mintues.

Hot Pita Sandwiches
Cut pita in half. Stuff with favorite meat and cheese. Wrap in foil and heat in the oven. If you want a crispy hot sandwich take the foil off. Dip in hummus or dressing.
